We were delighted to welcome so many to the church for the Harvey’s brewery annual Harvest Thanksgiving service. Led by Brother George, and with musical accompaniment from Sussex Harmony under leader Rachel Jordan, the event was a delightful way to give thanks for all that our Lord provides and celebrate Harvest-tide.
Readings were Genesis 1 vv 20-31, and John 1 vv 19-34. Hymns included the popular All Things Bright and Beautiful and that Harvest favourite, We Plough the Fields and Scatter. Among the congregation were 28 former Masters from various London Livery Companies, and it was a pleasure to have them worshipping with us.
The talented musicians of Sussex Harmony entertained with Sing to the Lord whose Bountiful Hand again Accords his Gifts unto the Land; words by Richard Frederick Littledale (adapted) 1833-1890, to the tune of New Christians (originally called Brewer) by John Hall who dies in 1794.
