Dear Friends – In Britain, thanks have been given for successful harvests since pagan times.
Harvest festival is traditionally held on the Sunday near the Harvest Moon; this is the full Moon that occurs closest to the autumn equinox (22 or 23 September). The celebrations we will have will, like many churches and chapels, include singing hymns, praying and decorating our beautiful ancient church.
Thanks must go to all who work so hard to achieve this. Thanks also to Sussex Harmony as they begin our celebrations on Saturday morning where Brother George (pictured) will preach at the Harvey’s Brewery service.
It is wonderful that the church will be full for this celebration of thanks and that we can conclude our thanks with our harvest meal together. An ancient tradition that is still of importance today. Thank you, also, to all of you who work so hard to ensure that we have such a wonderful week-end.
All Good Wishes Richard
We were delighted to welcome organist Peter to play at our Harvest Communion service
