At the Parish Communion service on Remembrance Sunday we recalled all those from the parishes of St Thomas and All Saints who had fallen in conflict. Their names were read out ahead of a two-minute silence and prayers to honour those who fought for their country.
Concluding his sermon, Brother George said: “On this day of remembrance one way of looking at the sacrifice in war, is that we have been given more time in our lives by those whose time was cut short suddenly.
“Time is an important factor in our lives. Time is of a two-fold meaning. For the Saints who ask, ‘What more may we ask – than that our time be short?’ And we who are less than all the Saints, knowing not what time we have, seek wisdom.”
The Remembrance Altar (below) was suitably decorated for the occasion.
