All being well, we hope to hold the annual Cliffe Fair on Saturday 29th August in Cliffe Square – the area around the church and Cliffe Hall. It is an occasion for all the family and doors open at 10.00am after the reading of the ancient Charter granting the Fair. The event concludes with the draw for the Grand Raffle at 12.30pm.
The event is steeped in history, dating back to the 1410 charter granted by Henry IV.
“This is a key event for St Thomas’ “, explains Churchwarden Trevor Butler. “All money raised goes towards the upkeep of the historic building which is at the centre of the Cliffe community – being an old building, there is always maintenance required as well as modernisation such as a need to install a sink in the vestry since we currently have no running water.”
