Canon Richard Moatt, Rector Of Lewes

Rector’s retirement

Rector of Lewes’ retirement.

After six years serving the benefice, the Rector of Lewes has today announced his retirement with effect from 31st March 2020, his 66th birthday.

Canon Richard Moatt’s last Sunday in Lewes will be 23rd February 2020, with his last Sunday at St Thomas’ being the 9th February next.

The process of Interregnum will begin as we look for a successor, and more details will be announced once we have a timetable.

We will arrange an additional meeting of the PCC to which the Archdeacon will join us to explain the process.

We are fortunate to be guided through the process by Canon Judith who, as Rural Dean, will assume ecclesiastical responsibility for the benefice from 1st April until a new Rector is appointed.

Services at St Thomas’ will be unaffected during the interregnum.
